Improve the look of your landscape
We at Trees of Colorado strive to keep safety first in all aspects of our business. This value is not excluded in stump grinding. Before the stump grinding process begins we survey the area to see if we can access it with our stump grinder. We look for 36 inch gates, steep inclines, raised flower beds, and islands.
Safety First
Please ensure that before stump grinding is carried out you are aware of any water, power, or gas lines that may run by the stump. We recommend if you do not know where these lines are, to call 811 and get the area blue-staked. This allows us to avoid breaking any lines unnecessarily. If there is an irrigation line that cannot be moved in the stump grinding area, we can cut the line on either side and leave it to be fixed by an irrigation professional.
Recycle into mulch or compost
Once the assessments have been completed the stump grinder can be brought in. The grinder consists of a rotating cutting wheel with sharp teeth that gradually chip away at the stump. The operator carefully maneuvers the grinder, ensuring that the stump is ground down to a suitable depth below ground level. Once the stump grinding is complete, the excess wood chips are taken off the top and the rest packed into the hole. The excess wood chips are then taken and recycled to be used as landscaping mulch or compost.
Key Benefits of the Service
Stump grinding offers several benefits. Firstly, it completely eliminates the stump, preventing any regrowth or sprouting. This is particularly important for trees known to have aggressive root systems. Not only this, but these root systems and the stump as a whole can be a safety hazard. Secondly, grinding stumps allows you to reclaim the space for other purposes such as landscaping or construction. Lastly, the wood chips produced during the grinding process can be reused as mulch or compost, providing a sustainable and eco-friendly solution.
